Cormar Carpets has opened to its new southern regional distribution centre at Hemel Hempstead, which will service customers in East Anglia and the South East of England.
The £15m 130,000sqft facility – equivalent to 46 tennis courts – includes two cut lengths machines and a sortation system. It allows Cormar to stock up to 2,500 rolls of carpet. There are also nine loading bays, parking capacity for up to 60 HGV vehicles and new reach/counter balance trucks.
‘This project has been ongoing for the last two years, but the last few months has seen the plan come to fruition. It’s been a really exciting time for our business, seeing the property converted into a fully operational, modern carpet distribution facility. The growth at Cormar has meant that we have had to plan for future expansion and this significant infrastructure investment demonstrates our commitment to our customers and the trade,’ said David Judge, Cormar Carpets md.
‘The Hemel Hempstead area offers us perfect access across the south, allowing us to strengthen our distribution throughout the UK by servicing our existing customer base in the south from this one location. Plus it has created more than 40 new job opportunities locally.’
