The home was built in 1880, colonial revival style in the historic Hartshorn section of Short Hills, NJ. The architect was John James and the contractor, Michael Mroz Construction. We kept the old world charm of the house in the millwork and floors but lightened up the space to fit a modern family and aesthetic. The homeowners have 3 children, 2 lab dogs and are always entertaining. Almost all fabrics and rugs are family friendly. A soft, blue/gray palette was kept consistent through-out the home and we used a few antiques from the families estate. Lucite was a bridge material to combine old and new. Each space speaks to comfort, ease, pretty aesthetics, classics and conversation.
