Faber were appointed to design all of the interiors for The Edgbaston Boutique Hotel and Cocktail Lounge, an iconic new hotel located in this affluent part of Birmingham.
The hotel has three cocktail lounges and six luxuriously appointed bedrooms, in a timeless style that harks back to the days of Martinis before dinner and table side service.
Faber first started working with The Edgbaston ahead of its opening back in 2014 – then a contemporary cocktail lounge with just six bedrooms.
With the venue proving a huge success – now one of the most recognised cocktail bars in the country – we were invited back to design a new building, with 14 extra en-suite bedrooms, and turn the venue into a Boutique Hotel of the highest standard.
A major design consideration for the new extension was the coherence between old and new. Five years is a long time in terms of design and we were careful not to stray too far away from the original concept, instead, our vision was for a more refined version of the original design.
Each room uses the same palette of materials, but due to the nature of the Victorian building – every room being a different size and shape – the resulting finish varies, making each room feel unique.
The cocktail lounge and hotel lobby areas oozes Art Deco glamour with a rich palette of dark wood, black and gold, brightened with huge glass chandeliers and mirror tiling. The new bedrooms have a brighter, more contemporary feel whilst retaining the period details and hinting at the Art Deco decor in the main building.
